Consignment Policy

The consignment fee is determined by the value of the item.

Here are some general rates and rules*:

- We need to have the items in hand for evaluation of condition, to determine value and to take digital images. The consignee is responsible for all shipping costs to Hutch's Rare Books. Hutch's Rare Books will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items so please be sure to pack well and insure if you think it necessary.

Determination of value is set primarily by the consignee with input from Hutch's Rare Books.

- The consignee would be responsible for listing fees and final value fees for any item that sells for less than $500.

- If an item is deemed "not worthy of sale" due to it's condition or value or does not sell after repeated attempts. The consignee would be responsible for 50% of the listing fees if at auction and return shipping.

- Each single item would have to be valued at a minimum of $50

Items Sold between :
$50 to $99.99 incur a 30% consignment fee
$100 to $499.99 incur a 25% consignment fee
$500 to $999.99 incur a 20% consignment fee
$1000 to $1499.99 incur a 15% consignment fee
$1500 and up incur a 10% consignment fee

* the above are basic guidelines. We realize there may be some instances when these guidelines need to be adjusted to meet the concerns of all involved parties.
