How to care for your new sarong or pareau.
POLYESTER SARONGS
Polyester sarongs are easy to care for as well as virtually wrinkle free. Machine wash and dry on gentle. Do not use chlorine bleach as this will yellow the fabric and change the color tone. Exposure to salt water is not a concern. If you like to wear your sarong as you swim, feel free. Just give your pareo a quick rinse at the same time as you would your lycra swimsuit and they will both have a longer life span. Squeeze instead of wringing. If static develops from machine drying, use dryer anti-static sheets or spray, or use fabric softener.
SHEER SARONGS
Sheer sarongs may need a little extra care. Do not fret if you snag your sheer pareau. If this should happen, pull the fabric until most of the straying threads are pulled back into the garment. Then snip any excess thread loops to prevent a repeat snag from occuring. Dab a small amount of "fray check" or clear nail polish (as you would to stop a run in pantyhose) on the weak area to prevent a hole from developing over time.
SILK SARONGS
As it is a sarong and not a designer tailored suit, not to worry about water marks and the such. The dyeing process involves lots of water, so yes your silk pareo is WASHABLE.
Treat your silk sarong as you would your hair, using shampoo or "Woolite" type mild laundry soap either by hand or on the gentle cycle in the washing machine. Temperature does not matter as shrinkage is not an issue. Although drying by machine is okay, this may generate static so "Bounce" type dryer sheets or fabric softener will alleviate this. It is recommended to iron while damp. This actually helps to preserve the colors. Silk is weak when wet, so squeezing instead of wringing is best.
Do not expose to chlorine bleach as this will yellow and weaken the fabric itself and may dull or change the colors. Many swimming pools are getting away from using chlorine, however you never know for sure so it is best to avoid wearing the silk in such water. Don't worry too much about splash up, as the painted pattern is free style and any marks will likely just become part of the design. A quick rinse is all that is needed as you would do for your lyra swimsuit, both will last longer for your effort. Sunlight is notorious for fading silk fabrics, however we use quality French dyes so this should not be a major issue. Adding vinegar to the last rinse will enhance the natural shine and sparkle of the fabric.
As a side point, the cell structure of silk is actually shaped like an accordion. This is why silk has a natural sparkle as it reflects the light. Silk thus also provides effective protection from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. So do not be shy to use your pareo as a sun shade. It is a small sacrifice to lose a little color instead of getting sunburned. A cloth cover-up is a lot healthier than sun block lotions as one is never sure about chemicals and their long term health effects on one's precious skin, the largest organ of the human body.

Simply wrap around the waist once and tie the extension tips in a knot at the waist to fit. It seems to look best when worn rather loosely to one side so that the knot drops low from the waist.
# 2 Day Wear Sarong Skirt

Hold the sarong centered high up across the back as though it was a large towel. Bring ties to front, crisscross the ends across high chest in an "X" and then tie the tips at back of neck. This gives a "Marilyn Munroe" look. Halter Dress

General Tips
~ Allow the knot to drop low from the waist and to the side in the skirt style for a more slimming look.
~ Give the knot an extra "flip" at the back of the neck, this helps tighten up the slack and gives a smoother look.
~ A short sarong may also be worn as a top and wrapped as the above styles. Just be sure to get a larger sarong to allow for the twists.
The sarong is a very versatile garment that may be worn in a variety of styles. Shown below are skirt style views. Longer pareos may also be worn as the dress style, just slip it up from the waist to bust level. Then drape and tie in the halter, sweet heart, or twist style or even tied with the knot at the shoulder.

cover for two! As the sarong is a garment that is tied to fit, sizing
is not critical. Please be

Why not use a narrower one as a scarf to accessorize your bridal sarong or provide accent as head band, hat, or turban.

The sarong is a garment that is tied to fit so sizing is not critical, however when we get into the plus size range it certainly is nice to have enough to go around.
If uncertain as to what size you need, do not despair. You will have opportunity as you go through the checkout to leave us a note with measurements for reference, we can do the math in determining the correct size for you. Please let us know whether you will wear your sarong primarily as the skirt style or as the dress style.
Sizes are based on the assumption that the sarong will be worn as the skirt style. If you intend to wear your pareo also in the dress style, it is recommended to go one size up. This will allow for extra ease when tying at the neck with any extra twists, etc. There are extension tips that provide extra length for ties at the top edge which allows the garment to fall and drape nicely. You will love how comfortable this style is compared to the usual rectangular cut.
Measurements are through the center of the garment laid flat, and does not include the extension tips. North American sizes are approximate and for reference only.
