Silk dupioni fabrics are available by the yard in solid colors with irridescent weave accent. The nubby texture is created when two silk worms (twins?) are confined to a single cocoon which intertwine the filaments into one nubby thread. Thus the interesting texture.
Very much like tafetta, silk dupioni has a crisp hand that is ideal for elegant evening and bridal gowns or even as a rustley lining. Also found in home decorating applications such as table linens, placemats, napkins, runners, and drapes. Exquisite luxury for home or fashion.

Learn how to dye plain white silk fabric yourself using just your own home microwave oven and good ol' saran wrap to set the colors. Similar results as wtih batik tie dying. By folding, scrunching, pinching and twisting you can create several different patterns.
A great Saturday afternoon project or an awesome "girls night out" creative fest. (see our sarong sites
for more ideas). A half hour project, unless there is a lineup at the microwave! So easy to do even the children might take over the project.

A lovely collection of burnout silk sheer chiffon fabrics are available in monotone and two tone color combinations. Silk chiffon fabrics drape well and are shown below as wrap dresses.
This unique fabric goes through quite a treatment process before its debut. It starts out as a dense satin charmeuse fabric of rayon interwoven over silk background. A special application of dissolving spirits applied to selected areas results in these areas becoming devoid of the satin fibres and effectively exposing the sheer silk chiffon as a "background". Thus the term "burn out" is used to describe this luxurious fabric with its highlights of satin surface accent patterns.
Additional dye processing results in gorgeous monotone or two tone (some handpainted) dream fabrics of contrasting glistening satin overlayed on a base of very soft and drapey silk chiffon. Exquisite all on their own, these fabrics are ideally used for scarves, evening wear, bridal and special occasion.

Silk is the queen of all fabrics, charmeuse is thus the queen of all silks.

Wear the satin side to the inside, luxury is all yours!
This versatile fabric is ideal for bridal and special occasion gowns, luxury bed linens, lingerie, home decorating, crafts.
Available in either stretch or non-stretch quality.
Silk crepe de chine is a staple grade of fabric with many uses and comes in many weights. It is a fabric with a firm weave yet has a nice drape and releases wrinkles easily. It breathes well and is hypoallergenic. Perfect for travel and daily wear.
A collection of silk noile fabrics are available by the yard in several deep jewel tone colors in solid styles.
Raw silk noile is a basic staple cloth with multiple purpose uses. It has a nubby texture much like hemp or linen, yet with a soft drape that easily releases wrinkles. Ideal for every day wear with the ultimate comfort and breathability of natural silk.
Perfect for suits, jackets, skirts, pants, jumpers, etc. My absolute favorite maternity jumper dress was made of this comfy fabric. A life saver through the heat of summer!
A lovely collection of silk velvet fabrics are available in solid and patterned styles. Rayon pile over silk chiffon background results in a fabric that drapes well and has a very soft hand.
Some of these velvets are embellished with screen or discharge print patterns, pleated, sandwashed or with burnout patterns.
The burnout patterns are created using a unique treatment process. It starts out as a dense velvet fabric of rayon fibrous pile woven over a silk chiffon background. A special application of dissolving spirits applied to selected areas results in these areas becoming devoid of the rayon velvet pile and effectively exposing the sheer silk chiffon as a "background". Thus the term "burn out" is used to describe this luxurious fabric with its plush velvet patterns and exposed sheer background areas.
Plain or embellished with additional dyed or painted patterns, these velvets may be used in a variety of fashion apparel or home decorating projects. Gorgeous as scarves, drapes, cushions. Buttery soft and drapey, go ahead and "try" to keep your hands to yourself.
