History
Founded in 1999 as “Auctionworks”, Marketworks was originally created to help businesses sell on eBay as well as their own storefronts. After experiencing tremendous success on eBay and beyond, Auctionworks changed its name to Marketworks in 2004 to more accurately reflect its broad market appeal in automating multi-channel sales for both fixed and dynamic pricing environments.
In 2004, Marketworks became the first multi-channel e-commerce provider to focus on international markets and now has wholly-owned operations in the UK, Germany, and Australia, in addition to the United States.
The company continues to grow by appealing to established businesses that want to start an online sales operation as well as existing online businesses seeking a more scalable solution. Today, over 4,000 merchants in 37 countries rely on Marketworks to power their multi-channel e-commerce.
In June of 2005, the company won eBay's Star Developer Award for managing more listings than any other provider and a few months later, Marketworks was recognized by Overstock.com Auctions for delivering the most listings to their marketplace as well.
Marketworks is a privately held company backed by Crosslink Capital and Council Ventures.
